Week 2

During this week, I ended up needing to change the goal of my project a bit. Because I've been trying to work on my webcomic, The Kava Cauldron , and my senior project simultaneously, I realized it would make more sense (for the health of my hands) to combine the comic with my environment drawings for this project since they both revolve around drawing skills and creating a complete product. After talking with my advisor, I focused mostly on my comic this week so that I can finish episode 8 by Monday. I co-create The Kava Cauldron with my friend Sarah, who draws most of the line art. After she finishes with the lines, she sends them to me and I add colors, backgrounds, shading, and letters. This episode didn't have a big need for detailed backgrounds, so I focused more on the colors and finding ways to create simple backgrounds. Week 1

For my senior project, I am creating a small series of environment drawings. I chose this project for a number of reasons, but the biggest one was because I really love to draw environments but rarely have time to do anything very detailed because I spend most of my free time working on my comic and we have a monthly upload schedule to stick to. Because I was already really familiar with them, the drawing programs I'm using for my project are Procreate and Clip Studio Paint on my iPad. I will likely use Clip Studio Paint on my Surface Book computer to draw, as well. For drawing references, I'll be using a lot of the same resources I use to help me draw backgrounds for The Kava Cauldron (my comic). I use YouTube and Pinterest a lot, but I also have a couple of art books by some of my favorite background animators Makoto Shinkai and Mateusz Urbanowicz with some really beautiful illustrations and drawing tips.
